From perusing different websites, our research shows that the price for a 10oz package of frozen organic blueberries averages about $6 which means those berries cost about $10 a pound. In most states east of the Rocky Mountains, Pleasant Hill Farm can ship blueberries to your door for less than $5 a pound. So please read over our ordering information and taste our certified organic blueberries.
For over almost forty years, John Van Voorhees and Joan Donaldson have grown organic blueberries at Pleasant Hill Farm, one of the first certified organic blueberry farms in Michigan. John is a third generation farmer who cultivates bushes planted by his grandfather in the 1940’s, and his wife, Joan is the granddaughter of a fruit farmer. Because of the soil's high organic content and the years of sustainable farming, our blueberries are extra sweet and intensely flavorful. We also offer you-pick organic strawberries and pre-picked organic peaches in season.
Pleasant Hill was originally certified by Organic Growers of Michigan and currently maintains certification through Oregon Tilth. John represented Michigan at the first conference to discuss national organic standards in 1989, and has presented at organic events sponsored by Michigan State University. Joan is an award-winning author who writes essays about farming and records features for their local NPR station.
During the harvest season, fresh berries are available through you-pick that begins in mid-July and ends in mid-August. We reserve most Saturdays for picking, and usually offer other times during the week. For the latest updates, please join our Facebook Page where Joan posts frequently. From September to May, we ship thirty-pound and ten boxes of frozen blueberries, please read our ordering page for more information.
